Sunday morning
Adult Bible Classes beginning Sept. 12 – 9:00 a.m.
Just Walk Across
the Room – Kristen Beyer
Sometimes,
something as simple as walking across a room to meet someone new can change
a life forever. This class is less about methods of evangelism and
more on taking an interest in others and showing care and compassion.
The first four weeks will consist of DVD material and group discussion, and
the last two weeks will cover practical application of the material, such as
what we do at Community to reach out to others. The group will also be
a support group to discuss your own outreach to friends and family and to
lift them up in prayer.
Running Nowhere in Every Direction – Debbie
Lundberg and Sarah Grainger
To say we're busy
is like saying Greenland has ice. We're running as fast as we can-to work,
school, church, sports, music lessons, the mall-but the faster we run and
the more places we run to, the more some of us feel we're really running
nowhere. With a few girlfriends who are just as wiped out but want to get
somewhere too, you can link arms and begin figuring out how you can get off
the treadmill. With this fresh new discussion guide and key Scripture
passages, you can discover together what God has to say about the stress in
your life-your schedule, expectations, limits, happiness, and much more. You
can find encouragement and insight to stop running nowhere and start walking
somewhere with God.
They Like Jesus but Not The Church – Dayton
Dangel
Many in today’s
emerging generation don’t like the church. Some are leaving the church;
others never were a part of it. Yet they remain fascinated with Jesus. This
small group curriculum will explore six of the most common objections and
misunderstandings emerging generations have about the church and how the
church can respond in positive ways.
Spiritual Gifts – Donna Hinke
Did you know that serving is not only good for the church and the
body of believers but also good for your spiritual growth? Most of us
know we should serve, and most of us want to serve, but a lot
of us are not sure just where and how we can best serve.
Come join us as we learn about spiritual gifts, our personal style and our
God given passions, then we will talk about where He might be calling you to
serve. Imagine what our church would be like if everyone responded to God’s
call for their life. If you have
questions, or would like more information, please call Donna Hinke at (760)

Classes scheduled throughout the year. Check times and schedule for the following classes:
365 Days in the Word - Dayton Dangel and Les Beccue This class is in the home stretch as we move our way into the fall but that doesn't mean that you can't join. Even if you have fallen behind in your reading, you can still join the class. We want you here. The class meets in Keturakat Hall and our time is spent answering questions about the reading for that week and also looking a little deeper within small groups. If you want to join the class and need a Bible, please see Jim Meyer.
Love & Respect - Lance Andersen A wife has one driving need - to feel loved. When that need is met, she is happy. A husband has one driving need - to feel respected. When that need is met, he is happy. When either of these needs isn't met, things get crazy. Love & Respect reveals why spouses react negatively to each other and how they can deal with such conflict quickly, easily and biblically. This class will meet for 12 weeks and uses a workbook and it is advised that each couple has one. The cost is $10.00 per workbook. Visit the information booth to sign up for this class and to order your workbook.
Dare to Be Different - As Christians, we know that sharing our faith is something that we need to be doing, but all too often we are nervous or scared to tell our friends and co-workers about our relationship with Jesus Christ. Dare to Be Different is a new class we are offering here at Community that offers encouragement and practical suggestions for those who desire to be more faithful in their witness life.
Luther - Pastor Vogelsang This class will be led by Pastor and looks, at the controversial reformer’s life as portrayed in the 2003 film, Luther, starring Joseph Fiennes. Scrptural, discussion based on questions will help participants appreciate Luther’s confession of Christ and encourage them to “take a stand” for the true, biblical faith. What a great class this will be as we get ready to celebrate Reformation Sunday at the end of October. This Class will meet for six weeks.
Job Seekers - Ed Gustine & Paul Trzinski Are you unemployed? Are you changing Careers? Are you considering reentering the job market? Are you an employer looking to hire? Is your company hiring and are you looking for their referral bonus? We will be discussing job search ideas, methods and providing support to those of us in this process.
Spiritual Gifts - Donna Hinke
Christianity 101 - A great class if you are new to the Christian faith and just want to learn about who God is, what is the Bible and will also touch on the history of Community Lutheran Church.
Case for Christ - Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? Retracing his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, cross-examines several experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis who are recognized authorities in their own fields. Strobel challenges them with questions like: How reliable is the New Testament? Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible? Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event? Strobel’s tough, point-blank questions make this six-session video study a captivating, fast-paced experience. But it's not fiction. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure.
Lies Women Believe - Are you burned out, overwhelmed, angry, confused or fearful? According to Nancy Leigh DeMoss, these emotions are the result of Satan's lies. Nancy tackles many of the falsehoods that enslave Christian women with alarming frequency and severity. Though she does not promise their problems will go away, she confronts the lies with practical truths found in Scripture that will help women begin to "walk through the realities of life in freedom and true joy."
Lutheran Doctrine - This class will allow you to dive into what the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod teaches in its six chief parts. Those parts include; Lord's Prayer, Apostles Creed, Ten Commandments, Baptism, Holy Communion and the Office of the Keys. This is a great class if you are looking to become a member of Community Lutheran Church. This class will last for 6 weeks.
1 Peter - Why study this little letter? Let me give you a few reasons: You'll be refreshed with hope and joy. You'll see Jesus more clearly - as Lamb, Shepherd, Overseer, Sacrifice, and Chief Shepherd. If you're struggling with temptation, you'll find several encouragements to holy living that will strengthen you. Peter gives us: A clear vision of the Church, wisdom for marriage, encouragement to witness with gentleness, important words about spiritual gifts, and guidelines for church leaders. This class will meet for 6 weeks.

Adult
Education
The Adult Education at Community Lutheran Church is designed to look like a flower. Just like a flower makes its beginning with roots, a stalk, and leaves, we too make our beginning at the bottom with classes designed to help a
person first learn about the Christian faith and then as they move up the stalk, they will learn about the Old and New Testaments, Lutheran Doctrine and the gifts that they have within the body of Christ. As a person gets to the petals of the flower they will find classes designed to not only increase their knowledge of Scripture but also how
to put those teachings into place in their homes, workplaces, and their community. We encourage you to find the spot that you want to grow in and join us as we all grow in our knowledge of God. Please email Jim Meyer for questions regarding Adult Education at Community Lutheran Church of Escondido at jmeyer@clcesc.org. |
