Local Outreach and Social Services

Faith in Action Sunday

In May and November each year, our entire congregation is invited to participate in a day of mass service projects! Typical projects include putting together packages for military servicemen and servicewomen overseas, giving gifts to veterans, landscaping at a mobile home park, cleaning up a school, installing gutters at a home, and painting at a women's shelter.  Project leaders and volunteers are always needed.

Multi-Site Church

At Community, we believe that one strong way of reaching people is by going to where the people are!  We have worship services on campus in Escondido, at Redwood Town Court, and in San Marcos.  By branching out and away from our Escondido campus, we can bring God's love to people all around the North County.

Local Organizations

Our church partners with those organizations who are already serving the needs of our community in incredible ways.  We serve meals once per month at Interfaith Community Services, pack sack lunches for the homeless, hold food drives, collect Christmas presents for children at shelters, and participate in fundraising events such as The Walk for Life hosted by Alternatives Women's Center.

Mission Trips and Servant Events

Each summer, the senior high youth take two mission trips.  To view photos of our past youth mission trips, visit the Youth Mission Trips Photo Gallery.  This summer, the youth served in Puerto Rico and in San Francisco.

To follow the mission trips, read the blogs written by the youth while on the trips:

Overseas Missionary Support

Our congregation supports Rev. Glenn and Susan Fluegge as LCMS missionaries in Africa.  The Fluegges and their five children have served with LCMS World Mission since 1998 in Togo, West Africa where Glenn taught at the Centre Luthérien d’Etudes Théologiques, a seminary that trains pastors for Lutheran churches throughout French-speaking Africa.  In 2009, they accepted a call to continue serving as missionaries, but this time in South Africa where Glenn currently teaches at the Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTS) in Pretoria and works with Lutheran churches throughout Africa to help develop their pastoral training programs. To learn more about their ministries and their family on their blog, visit their family website.  To support the Fluegge family, print their prayer card.
