Mark

The well-known elements of the Christmas story such as the manger, the stable, and the star are important, but Mark begins his Gospel not with these things, but at the very beginning of the story of Jesus. What does Mark's Gospel mean for us this Christmas?

We've been let down by plenty of authorities in our lives, so how do we know that we can trust God's authority? Is his authority good, and does he really have our best interests at heart? Learn how we recognize that Jesus is the authority of God and that his authority is good, then hear as Vicar Joel discusses how we recognize and honor that authority in our daily lives.

Advances in technology and other things in this world may amaze us, but imagine being present when Jesus cast out demons and performed miracles! It would have been truly amazing, right? The most amazing thing of all, however, is that Jesus is the savior of the world.

Jesus could have had fame and glory if he had stayed in the towns where he was popular, but he prayed and then chose to move on to unreached towns. What does this mean for us as a new satellite? We can be thankful for the "success" that has thus been achieved, but we are to continue praying for new people to join us and to reach out to our community with the love of Christ. On this Sunday, we also pray for our members and missionaries who are reaching out to people around the world.

The best leaders know how to focus on what is right in front of them and to always keep their mission in perspective. Jesus never let the crowds or possibility of fame take him off course. He continued to look out and beyond at the people He came to save. At Community Lutheran Church, we work together to further God's kingdom while always looking to Christ as our strength and salvation.

Pastor Meyer explains how the love of Jesus changes everything in our lives, from our bad habits, to the way in which we use the gifts that God gives us. How is he using you?
